Decisions on behalf of the SafeDeposits Scotland Charitable Trust are made by an experienced board of Trustees. The Trustees are introduced here in a series of short Q&A posts...
JOHN DUFF
Independent Chairman of the SafeDeposits Scotland Charitable Trust since 2017
Why is the Trust important to you?
JD: "It has been a privilege chairing the SafeDeposits Scotland Charitable Trust, particularly in its formative years as we have seen it grow from a unique new grant giving charity to passing the milestone in 2023 of £1 million awarded to date. Having been involved in housing for decades, I am sure there are many who would have welcomed the existence of something like the Trust over the years prior to its arrival. Scotland's private rented sector is full of people with a genuine passion for making it a good place in which to live and work, and innovative visions on how to achieve that. In many cases the Trust and the funding it can provide is the missing link between idea and execution."
What would you say to anyone who is submitting an application to the Trust?
JD: "If you're considering an application I would say make the move and get in touch with us, and we'll be happy to discuss the feasibility of the Trust and funding your project. If you're already applying then we look forward to hearing about your vision, and hopefully awarding a grant."
